Simply a great book store, news stand, gift shop....a perfect place to take a step away from the brutal and constant demands of this Now-Now-NOW culture that is so pervasive today. City News has been around, right there on Arendell, downtown Morehead City, since I was literally in grade school...I'm 31 now and I just went back there with my Mom (like we did when I was a kid) when I visited in 2013 and it felt the same as always...warm, safe, and full of endless brilliant and fascinating stories, fiction and non, illustrated and not, classic or contemporary...probably had at least a solid part in my choice to pursue English as my major and my lifelong devotion to literature. I always feel at home...but that's just me, the rare book-and-longform-journalism reader in this day and age...
Last Sunday the NYT was sold out when I went at 10am. I called for this Sunday and Nick is kind enough to 'hold' one for me! Thanks dude! See you then!
